Railways
As one of the most sustainable and safest modes of transport, railways play a significant role in the future European mobility system and are key to achieving the objectives of the Europe Green Plan. Therefore, the European Commission has proposed to declare 2021 as the European Year of Railways to highlight all its strengths and challenges over the years ahead. Since its establishment, the INSTITUT IGH, JSC has been engaged in numerous projects to solve the problem of railway transport in Croatia. Important ones to mention are Rijeka - Zagreb - Botovo on pan-European transport corridor Vb worth 4.6 million euros, and Škrljevo - Rijeka - Jurdani worth 5.4 million euros.
INSTITUT IGH, d.d. and HŽ Infrastruktura signed a contract for the supervision of works on the reconstruction of the Zagreb West Station - Savski Marof railway worth HRK 5,346,000. This project is financed mainly by a loan from the World Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). It refers to the 17.8-kilometre-long section of the two-track railway line located on the RH1 corridor, which is extremely important for international freight and suburban transport, which averages about 160 trains a day.
